As we watch the sun go down, evening after evening, through the smog across the poisoned waters of our native earth, we must ask ourselves seriously whether we really wish some future universal historian on another planet to say about us:  "With all their genius and with all their skill, they ran out of foresight and air and food and water and ideas," or, "They went on playing politics until their world collapsed around them."

U Thant, speech, 1970

CCGFE (Citizens Coalition of Greater Fort Erie) is a citizens' group working towards smart growth and development that will benefit the entire community.

Our approach is a collaborative one.
We seek to be a smart growth resource for local decision makers and developers, as well as to educate and empower citizens to be involved in the local decision making process.

Irresponsible development strains every type of local resource, from water supply to wildlife habitat to government capacity. The decisions we make now will reverberate far beyond our own lifetimes.

Please join us in working for the responsible development and sustainable use of the natural resources of Fort Erie and its environs.

SAVING OUR SPECIES

One of the most important reasons to protect remaining agriculturally-zoned land from urban expansion is watershed protection. Such benefits are especially important on the subject lands which comprise the entire headwaters of Miller Creek. This Creek is a recognized Class One Provincial Fish Habitat. It provides habitat for endangered species, including the Grass Pickerel and Wood Turtle. If the headwaters of this creek are urbanized, the increased pollution and stream flashiness resulting will negatively impact on the survival of these species
